The region of Emilia-Romagna is located in north central Italy, bordering on the Adriatic Sea in the east.
Bologna is the capital of the region.
The region is divided into eight provinces named for their capitals. Bologna, Ferrera, Modena, Parma, Piacenza and Reggio nell'Emilia provinces are in Emilia. Forli and Ravenna are provinces in Romagna.
From this region, great gastronomic delights are made. Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, Prosciutto di Parma and Balsamic Vinegar to name a few.
Our logo, "La Sangiovesa" is a mythical character from Romagna. A maternal goddess who offers wine instead of milk. She is names after the predominant red wine grape grown in Romagna and Tuscany - "Sangiovese."
Tonino Guerra, an artist who was the director of photography for many of Federico Fellini's movies, also best known as a poet in Romagnolo dialect, imagined "La Sangiovesa" in this form.
